Women in Lexicography

The aim of this dictionary is to give visibility and vindicate relevant women in the field of lexicography. The work provides information on their lives, their careers, as well as their social and cultural background. It particularly highlights their contribution to lexicography in their respective contexts. This work is developed as a didactic project for collaborative learning within the framework of the Master Mundus in Lexicography (EMLex). In response to the multicultural nature of the Master’s and the existence of women lexicographers all over the world, the resource aims to include representation from each continent and will be as diverse as possible. Readers can consult it free of charge and also submit proposals for entries. The dictionary is available online and can be downloaded in digital format.

Scientific literature, newspapers, interviews, print and online dictionaries, online resources

The dictionary illustrates the contribution of female lexicographers with the purpose of recognizing their achievement as a role model for future generations. This resource was designed as a lexicographic practice and an activity for collaborative learning.

We encourage lexicographers, language and knowledge enthusiasts and all those who are interested to contribute to the development of this resource and to use it in the classroom as a simple reading or as a tool for reflection.
