María Clara Henríquez Guarín

María Clara Henríquez Guarín is a lexicographer with a long and distinguished career forged within the most representative institutions for the study of the Spanish language in Colombia. Her training began with a Bachelor's in Spanish-English at the Universidad Pedagógica de Colombia, which she complemented with a Master's in Linguistics from the Instituto Caro y Cuervo. Her connection to this institution deepened immediately, initiating a fruitful period as a teaching assistant for the Sociolinguistics Seminar and as a research assistant in the Dialectology Department, where she was part of the redaction team of the Diccionario de construcción y régimen de la lengua castellana (Dictionary of Construction and Syntax of the Castilian Language). Her excellence led her to a fellowship at the Centro de Investigación Lingüística de la Universidad de Salamanca (CILUS) between 1996 and 1997. With this experience, she rose to become the Director of the Lexicography Department at the Instituto Caro y Cuervo, a position from which she not only managed key projects but also taught the Lexicography Seminar. The Royal Spanish Academy appointed her as the reviewer of Colombianisms for the Dictionary of the Spanish Language.
