Carla Marello é Profesora Emérita na Universidade de Turín dende febrero de 2023. É tamén académica de número da Accademia della Crusca dende 2022. Tras graduarse en Humanidades na Universidade de Turín en 1975, obtivo en 1977 un diploma de posgrao de dous anos en Filoloxía Moderna. Gañadora dunha bolsa do DAAD, pasou longas tempadas investigando en Bielefeld entre os anos 1975 e 1977. Dende o 2000 é profesora titular de didáctica de linguas modernas na Universidade de Turín. No 2017 obtivo o Doutoramento Europeo cunha tese sobre lexicografía dixital e didáctica de linguas pola Universidade Complutense de Madrid (titora: Prof. Margarita Borreguero Zuloaga). / Carla Marello is Professor Emeritus at the Università di Torino since February 2023. She is a full academic of the Accademia della Crusca since 2022. After graduating in Humanities at the Università di Torino in 1975, she obtained a two-year postgraduate diploma in Modern Philology in 1977. Winner of a DAAD scholarship, she spent long periods of research in Bielefeld from 1975 to 1977. Since 2000, she has been full Professor of Modern Language Didactics at the Università di Torino. In 2017, she obtained a European PhD with a thesis about Digital Lexicography and Language Didactics from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (tutor Prof. Margarita Borroguero Zuloaga).

Carla Marello é membro de numerosas asociacións e sociedades de lingüística, como a Società di Linguistica Italiana (SLI), a European Association of Lexicography (EURALEX), a Society of European Linguistics (SLE), a Società Internazionale di Filologia e Linguistica Italiana (SILFI), a Associazione di Storia della Lingua Italiana (ASLI), a American Association of Teachers of Italian (AATI) e a Red de Lexicografía (RELEX), que é galega. É membro fundador de Didattica e linguistica educativa (DILLE). Ademais, foi asesora científica de varias institucións, como o Ministerio de Educación Italiano (MIUR), a Bozen Europäische Akademie (EURAC), o Centro xeorxiano de lexicografía e tecnoloxía lingüística, a Fundación Rustaveli de Xeorxia e o programa catalán Serra Húnter (SHP). Marello foi tamén coordinadora de varios proxectos nacionais FIRB (Fondo per gli Investimenti della Ricerca di Base) e PRIN (Progetti di Rilevante Interesse Nazionale) centrados na variación diacrónica e diafásica do italiano mediante a análise de corpus de textos e na adquisición e ensino do italiano como lingua estranxeira. She is a founding member of Didattica e linguistica educativa (DILLE). Besides, she was a scientific consultant of several institutions such as the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR), the Bozen Europäische Akademie (EURAC), the Georgian Centre for Lexicography and Language Technology, the Georgian Rustaveli Foundation, the Catalan Serra Húnter Programme (SHP). Furthermore, Marello was coordinator of various national FIRB (Fondo per gli Investimenti della Ricerca di Base) and PRIN (Progetti di Rilevante Interesse Nazionale) projects focusing on the diachronic and diaphasic variation of Italian through the analysis of text corpora and on the acquisition and teaching of Italian as a foreign language.
