Atlas Multimedia Prosódico do Espazo Románico (AMPER-Gal)
The Multimedia Prosodic Atlas of the Romance Domain (Atlas Multimedia Prosódico do Espazo Románico or AMPER) is a project that commenced in the late 1990s as an initiative of the Centre de Dialectologie at Stendhal University, Grenoble III, which aims to produce a description of the prosodic features of the Romance language area. Many European and Latin American scholars are currently taking part in the project which is being led by Michel Contini (Université Stendhal-Grenoble 3, Francia) and Antonio Romano (Università degli Studi di Torino, Italia). It is the common goal of all these research groups to create a prosodic atlas in a multimedia format which can be made available on the internet. The Atlas consists of a set of speaking maps allowing users to listen to the intonation of different sentence types and see graphs of F0, duration and energy values for comparison between different Romance varieties.
AMPER Galicia is one component of this international project which aims specifically to study, compare and produce a representation of the geographical distribution of the melodic patterns of different varieties of the Galician language.
